McGill Intramural Sports

Hello my dear readers,
today I felt like I had to present you an incredible feature of Mcgill Athletics and recreation: Intramural Tournaments. Those involve McGill students who wish to be part of an amazing sport championship, including 2v2 Soccer, Ball Hockey, Basketball, Flag Football, Ice Hockey, Outdoor Soccer, Tennis, Ultimate and Volleyball (for Fall 2011)
Registrations for Fall 2011 are now closed but it is interesting to understand how do they work for Winter session: registration begins Monday, December 5, 2011 through to Tuesday, Hanuary, 2012. League play will begin on Saturday January 14, 2012. If you are in you should register early because the space is limited.

From Mcgill website
"Join or create a team and play in any one of the fifteen intramural leagues. All full-time McGill students are eligible to participate in this popular program that combines competitive athletics with the philosophy of inclusion, participation, and fair play. Individuals are also welcome to participate by becoming free agents and signing on with an established team."

Montreal Alouettes Vs. Toronto Argos - 10/10/11

Anthony Calvillo, 39, in his 18th season is simply the best. Yesterday, against Toronto Argos he broke the record, becoming professional football’s career passing leader, as Alouettes topple Argos 29-19. Calvillo connected with Richardson, making a 50-yard-pass-and-run touchdown!

“I’m glad it happened the way it happened, on a huge touchdown. Jamel’s such a big part of our success. He made the play,” Calvillo said. “It was more of an emotional strain that I thought. Leading up to the moment, I got emotional and it put a strain on me. I’m glad it’s over and I can move forward.”

Calvillo now has 72,429 career passing yards.

“I’ve had longer runs, I think. Maybe once,” he said. “That touchdown helped us get over the edge. We struggled, and I wasn’t consistent.”

Mcgill Redmen had a tied 2-2 game last week-end against UQUAM citadins. It was a really hard game: UQUAM citadins dominated its beginning, scoring at the ninth minute. After Redmen come back at 1-1 (24') the citadins scored again just after the half-time (50'). But there Redmen showed once again their value tearing off the draw at the last minute! It was such an intense game, the audience had not been pleased in this way for a long time!
This tied game leads Redman at the second place of the championship :

Lastest updates from this weekend :

- Soccer Martlets struggled against Montreal University, the game ending in a draw (1-1).  Alexandra Morin-Boucher had a solid game, doing her job by scoring a nice goal after only 4 minutes of play!

Mcgill now occupies the second place of the division while Montreal remains in the top spot.

McGill Athletes of the Week!!

Congratulations to Alexander Rohrbach and Genevieve Plante for having been named Athletes of the Week!! Alexander, a Lacrosse talented player had a game as Mcgill beat Bishop's and Carleton during the weekend, scoring five times and giving out 2 assists.
Genevieve also had an amazing weekend : she helped McGill finish at the third place of the Ontario-Quebec Volleyball challenge by registering 40 digs, 28 kills and one stuff block in only four matches. She was even named in the all-tournament team.
Such players should really be gratified for what they did, they represent the future of nowadays Athletes and build the pride of McGill. At this moment we all should be really proud of being Mcgillians!!
Go Redmen!
